Food and Nutrition are very important to us at Hilton Lodge. All our food is produced using only the best fresh seasonal produce from our local community suppliers.

All dietary requirements can be catered for by our experienced chefs and alternatives and options are always available to suit choices and preferences of the individual. While residents may choose where to eat their meals we would encourage making mealtimes a social gathering with many of our residents enjoying eating together in the dining room. Should residents require it, staff are available to offer a helping hand with meals to ensure the residents nutritional needs are met.


Breakfast Menu

Cereal of your choice – cornflakes, weetabix, bran flakes, alpen, rice krispies, fruit and fibre, special k, frosties.
Fruit of your choice - prepared fresh fruit, grapefruit or prunes.
Porridge – as you like it with honey, a pinch of salt or a drop of cream.
Toast and preserves – sliced white or brown bread with jam or marmalade.
Fruit Juice – orange juice, grapefruit juice, apple juice or cranberry juice.
Tea or coffee
A cooked breakfast grill is available upon request.

Roast chicken with roast and creamed potatoes and roasted vegetables.
Warm poached pears with chocolate sauce.
Potato and Leek soup.
Goats cheese tartlets with side salad.
Home Baking. Alternatives and snacks are always available 24 hours per day.

Fried Haddock with French fries and mushy peas.
Banoffee Pie.
Chicken Noodle soup.
Cauliflower and Broccoli Cheese Bake with crusty bread.

We work closely with Community Speech and Language Therapists and the Dieticians to ensure that those residents who may experience some difficulty with swallowing have access to modified diets that are palatable, soft and nutritious.

Our menu is varied and includes hot and cold meals, vegetarian options and the ever popular puddings. Birthdays are celebrated with a homemade cake, sherry and a present provided by Hilton Lodge.

East Lothian Environmental Officers work to assist us at Hilton Lodge to ensure the highest standards of hygiene are met in our kitchen at all times. In 2017 Hilton Lodge was awarded the Eat Safe certificate in recognition of excellence in Food Hygiene standards as assessed by Environmental Health Services as part of an ongoing inspection programme.
